2016 London Fireworks – New Year’s Eve Fireworks

London has welcomed in 2017 with spectacular illuminations to see in the New Year – and with a Princely twist.

All eyes were on the River Thames for the annual fireworks display as the crowds listened out for the iconic bongs of Big Ben.

The impressive display managed to pay tribute to the late, great Prince with purple colours and the opening bars of his classic ‘Let’s Go Crazy’ track from Purple Rain.

2015 London Fireworks – New Year’s Eve

London used 400 different types of firework to create 10,000 explosions. These were fired from the London Eye, three barges and 14 pontoons.

Many revellers braved the intermittent spells of rain ahead of the stunning midnight display featuring around 12,000 fireworks.

As many as 3,000 officers were stationed across the capital’s centre, as cities across the world heighten security in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.
